ISLAM AND THE WEST - 23

 There is a reason for describing the categories of Sunnah in so much detail. The reason is to convey to our non-Muslim friends that for the vast majority of Muslims Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not just a historical figure who lived and passed away 1500 years ago. There are tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions, of Muslims who try to learn every day how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ lived his life, how he prayed, how he related to people, how he treated his family, how he ate, and then try to emulate his practices in their own lives. His Sunnah is very much alive for them. And that is why, for most of us, if someone insults him, mocks him, or belittles him, it is infinitely worse than if someone had insulted for example our parents. No sane person can condone vigilante justice, but hopefully some governments will understand that hatred and bigotry only breed hatred and bigotry.
