I reflected a lot on whether to share the link to this podcast or not. It is very informative, going over the history of French colonisation of North African countries, how Muslims ended up in France in such numbers, their historical and contemporary living conditions, and the reactions of other Western leaders to France's definition of 'freedom of speech' which I learnt is not the same as in a number of other countries.

There is one content warning I will give which is why I hesitated about sharing the link, even though it is publicly available on the internet. A contributor describes the two caricatures in words that Samuel Paty had shown in class, and the description of one of them can be very disturbing for a lot of people. I listened to it because I wanted to understand the full context of the current situation, but if you think you will find it too disturbing please do not listen to this podcast or at least skip that part. Eventually I did decide to share it because it may have an influence on a lot of people's opinions.
