 IJMA’ (اجماع) )CONSENSUS)

It has been narrated in a Hadith that Prophet Muhammad  said;

“Allah Ta’ala will not gather my Ummah (community) on misguidedness.”

This Hadith is quoted as being the basis of Ijma’ (consensus) being the third level of evidence for Shariah’s rulings. As has been narrated above, the Noble Qur’an was not written down as a book in its current form during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). During Hazrat Usman’s (may Allah be pleased with him) reign the whole of Muslim Ummah agreed on the Mus-haf Usmani (Usmani manuscript) being the only authentic way of writing the Noble Qur’an from that time onwards, and all other copies in which the words of Qur’an were written slightly differently, were destroyed. This ruling was adopted through Ijma’.
