ISLAM AND THE WEST - 20

Muslims believe that Allah Ta’ala sent about 124,000 Prophets as His messengers to guide mankind. Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) was the first of them, while Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the last. Four of them were sent with Holy Books, namely, Prophets Dawood (David), Essa (Jesus), Musa (Moses) and Muhammad (peace be upon them).

In the Noble Qur’an Allah Ta’ala has quoted a question by the disbelievers of Makkah a few times that why were angels not sent as Prophets. How can a person who eats and has other natural needs like everyone else, be a Prophet of Allah? Allah Ta’ala has then answered the question that angels do not have natural human inclinations, needs and desires. How could they become a role model for human beings? Only a human being can be a role model for another human being.
