ISLAM AND THE WEST - 21

 As has been mentioned previously, the Noble Qur’an sets out principles, for example, pray Salah, give Zakah, but doesn’t always give details about how to, or how many. This information has come to us through the Hadith and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. He was sent as a role model for Muslims as to how to apply principles of Shariah in real life. And that is why Allah Ta’ala has placed such premium on Muslims following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, that people who love Allah Ta’ala should follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, and Allah Ta’ala will start loving them!

 

Dr Abdul Hai (may Allah bless him) has written in his book Uswah Rasool Akram that there are three broad categories of Sunnah. The first is Sunan-e-Huda (سننِ ہدیٰ). These are the practices related to following the commandments of Shariah, for example, how to pray Salah. It is obligatory upon every Muslim to follow these Sunnah.
