 (Another common misconception about Gheebat (backbiting) is that people believe that if what they are saying is true, then it is not Gheebat. A person once asked the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), “O’ Prophet of Allah . Would it still be Gheebat if what I am saying about that person is true?” The Holy Prophet  replied, “It will only be Gheebat if what you are saying is true. If what you are saying is not true, then it will be Bohtaan [بہتان, slander, which in Shariah carries two sins, one of lying, and one of denigrating another human being].”)
