DOs AND DON'Ts IN THE NOBLE QUR'AN

Post # 126 brings the Islam and the West series to an end. The next series will be as titled above.

If there is one major regret in my life it is that even though I started learning the Tafseer (interpretation, exegesis) of the Nobel Qur'an many times but never persevered with it previously.
Why I say 'Tafseer' is because some people think they can just read an English or Urdu translation of the Qur'an and understand the meaning behind it. What they do not appreciate is that the Noble Qur'an was not revealed as one published book in one go. It was revealed a few verses at a time over a period of 23 years, mostly in relation to what was happening at the time, though the principles it established are for all eternity. Without knowing that context it is not possible to fully understand the meaning and message of the verses.
For an average person who is busy in his day-to-day job it is demanding to set some time aside everyday to read a Tafseer. Because of that I had the idea of just sharing a little bit everyday about those verses of the Noble Qur'an, and their interpretation from Ma'ariful Qur'an, which contain clear Do's and Don'ts, so that over a period of time a reader will come to know what the Noble Qur'an tells us to do and not to do.
Because I am no religious scholar I was very hesitant to do it as it would also involve giving some easy explanations where the text requires some prior knowledge. Therefore, I asked my own mentor of over 30 years about it. It is only because of his strong encouragement that I finally decided to start doing it. May Allah Ta'ala make us benefit from the knowledge of the Noble Qur'an. Aameen.
This series will be in English as I am always mindful that our children who have been born in/are growing up in the West do not always have access to easy to understand but also authentic knowledge on Deen. They are always my primary audience. May Allah Ta'ala make this effort beneficial for them. Aameen
